Organic Cotton Cloth Face Mask Mouth Mask
Reusable washable surgical medical face mask dust mask pollution mask
This is our no-frills organic cotton face mask that's easy to put on and take off, thanks to the elastic ear loops. It's one layer of 100% organic cotton jersey that's tightly knitted and soft. Many customers who work in grocery stores or heathcare facing the public double them up for more protection or use them as an outside protect mask layer on top of our other organic masks. Some insert one of our organic hankies or lint cloths to adad additional layers. The Lennox organic cotton masks work fine on their own in most other cases that don't need extra protection.
Made from our special 100% Organic Prima cotton jersey, the Lennox organic cotton face mouth mask is the result of overwhelming request from customers who face the public - grocery store workers, restaurant delivery service workers, and healthcare workers who need an organic face covering that's easy to put on and take off with simple elastic ear-loops. Why organic? Because they want a pure chemical-free organic fabric against the face and skin and nose instead of chemically treated plastic or PVC or polyester or silicone.
While our elastic-free Sao Paulo organic cotton, Cicero linen, and Schoenberg hemp courtesy face masks are super popular with our customers for being tailored and elastic-free, the Lennox organic cotton face masks are designed with ease of use in mind - for the frontline workers out there who have to serve the public while trying to protect themselves. Our organic cotton face coverings are comfortable to wear all day long. Customers who need additional layers of fabric can get one of our hankies or screen lint cloths in different organic fabrics.
If you're adding a filter, please note that with this single-layer mask, the filter is worn directly on the face, and held in place by the mask. This works fine for short trips in public such as a subway or bus ride. If you need to wear the mask for a long time, please choose one of our 2-layer styles with a pocket to insert the filter in (Everidge, or Clearbrook).
The US government, the CDC, and many cities, states and countries around the world officially recommend or require the use of cloth fabric face covering in public. There's a fine of $1,000 in Laredo, TX, for not wearing a face mask in public. In Austria, Czech, and Yogoslavia, it's required to wear a face mask in public to help flatten the curve and minimize community infection.
CNN: The reason the CDC said at the time that people who don't have symptoms don't have to wear masks was to reserve the supply of masks for medical professionals. People wondered "why are masks good for healthcare workers but not for the public"?
"Trying to avoid mask shortages for healthcare workers appears to have been the main priority of those arguing against the widespread use of masks. But while the motivation behind this may have been good, such advice may have actually helped spread the virus, thus adding to the number of patients overwhelming hospitals."
"One of the reasons the CDC's Refields gave for potentially changing the guidance on masks is that the coronavirus can be spread when people are asymptomatic, and therefore having everyone covering their faces - as has been the norm in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia since January - could help rein in transmission."
From Science Magazine, which interviewed George Gao, Director-General who oversees 2,000 frontline employees at the Chinese Center for Disease Control: "The big mistake in the US and Europe, in my opinion, is that people aren't wearing masks. The virus is transmitted by droplets and close contact. Droplets play a very important role - you've got to wear a mask, because when you speak, there are always droplets coming out of your mouth. Many people have asymptomatic or presymptomatic infections. If they are wearing face masks, they can prevent droplets that carry the virus from escaping and infecting others."
From a Washington Post article (thanks to the customer who pointed it out to us): "In this case, such delays might be deadly and economically disastrous. It’s time to make masks a key part of our fight to contain, then defeat, this pandemic. Masks effective at flattening the curve can be made at home with nothing more than a T-shirt and a pair of scissors. We should all wear masks - store-bought or homemade - whenever we’re out in public." Organic face masks are safe for your skin, your health, and the environment, too. Customers who are handy have also purchased our organic cotton, linen and/or hemp fabric by the yard to make their own organic face masks in addition. Recommended fabrics: Wisteria (hemp), Maple (linen), and Charpentier (organic cotton).
