Chemical-free Organic Cotton, Hemp and Wool Rugs & Carpets

All our natural fiber rugs are PFAS-free. PFAS are highly toxic substances that are thought to cause cancer, immunodeficiency, low birth weight and developmental deficiency in children. PFAS have been used for decades in conventional flooring products because they make textiles and rugs stain-resistant, water-proof, wrinkle-proof, and more. You can’t have those magical benefits for free - the choice you have is between a too-good-to-be-true conventional product that damages the environment and all loved-ones living in your home; and a pure, organic, natural fiber rug that you need to take care of and protect like we did for hundreds of years. You won’t have to worry about those hidden dangers, and you get to enjoy a perfectly natural character-piece that becomes part of your life!

"I am amazed at the breadth of your product offerings, especially the unique organic cotton, hemp and linen rugs and floor coverings you offer, in addition to your other products. I love that I can just go to you to outfit my whole chemical-free home. I support your vision and mission 100%." Jenny K.

Hemp rug. Eco friendly, non-toxic, and cruelty-free organic cotton, linen, wool, and hemp rugs, carpets, and floor coverings made in USA & Europe by Rawganique since 1997.

Rawganique manufactures pure organic cotton, wool, and hemp rugs, carpets, and floor coverings in-house at the Rawganique Atelier in Europe for true purity.

Our ethically made, cruelty-free, sustainable, and all natural organic rugs are as pure as can be. We design our chemical-free organic rugs for chemically sensitive people, but our organic cotton, linen, and hemp rugs are great for anyone who wants pure indoor air without outgassing from toxic carpets and rugs.

All of our organic rugs are sweatshop-free and Made in USA and Europe.
All of our hemp rugs are hand woven in Europe using only certified organic hemp fibers. All are machine washable in warm water with like color (gentle cycle), except of course the really big ones which will not fit in a washer. Lay flat to dry on a rack. We do not recommend machine drying our hemp rugs as excessive linting may occur. Many customers, for convenience's sake, have been machine drying their hemp rugs and reported that it's OK as long as the heat is kept very low and the rugs are removed just before they are dry. We recommend that a non-slip backing be used with the bigger hemp rugs to keep them in place, especially on smooth surface such as wooded floors.
Please note that we use only low-impact fiber-reactive dyes so color variations from batch to batch are to be expected. The Ecru Natural color is of course unbleached & undyed and varies from darker to lighter depending on the harvest season (rainy makes for a darker color). The soft-white Ivory color is derived from bleach-free hydrogen-peroxide whitening. The variations in shade and tone based on how the fiber reacts to the dye makes each hemp rug special and unique (truly one of a kind).

Care Instructions for Handwoven Hemp Rugs
Because of the handwoven nature and weight of our hemp rugs, it is better to beat and air them regularly than to launder them. Spot clean with water and brush as required. If you must launder them, we recommend putting them inside fine mesh garment bags and washing them separately from other items to protect the other items from lint and possible color bleeding. Lay flat to dry.
