Rawganique.com Customer Service

Quick info and Frequently Asked Questions

  • Due to high volume and traffic, the fastest way to contact us and get a timely response is by sending an email to the appropriate department per instructions below:

  • All prices listed are in US dollars.

Note to Canadian and international customers: your bank will convert the prices into your local currency at the prevailing rates. We do this because we purchase our raw materials in US dollars and our sewers and processors are paid in US dollars. It makes it easier for us to manage the volatile currency fluctuations and gives our customers better exchange rates than if we were to manage the conversions ourselves.

  • There is no sales tax on US orders and no customs on Canadian orders.

We ship from warehouses on the East and West Coasts and we have a warehouse in BC as well. Residents of Canada pay GST; BC residents are charged PST and GST. There are no hidden handling fees. You pay for the products, shipping, and applicable sales taxes, and that's all. Pure, simple, and transparent.

  • We accept orders online, by phone, or by mail.

Our toll-free order line is 1.877.729.4367. Our mailing address is Rawganique.com Box 81 Denman Island, BC V0R 1T0. If you are mailing your order, please note that we accept postal money orders or bank drafts only; we do not accept personal checks.

  • Rawganique prefers Visa and Mastercard.

We also accept direct wire transfers (email for information), postal money orders, and bank drafts (no personal checks please). Via PayPal, we accept American Express, Discover, E-Check, Solo, Maestro, Diner's Club, Visa Debit, plus most other forms of payment. Please use PayPal only if you don't have a Visa or Mastercard because PayPal doesn't allow us to do a partial authorization for backordered items (so your order must be charged in full at the time of ordering; our normal practice is to charge only for the items that ship). If at all possible, please pay with Visa or Mastercard via our secure payment gateway in the shopping cart.

  • Experiencing technical difficulty?

    Please call 1.877.729.4367 or 1.866.350.4367.

  • When will my order arrive?

This depends on where you are located and what shipping option you select. Economic shipping usually takes 1-4 weeks; we will wait until all your items are in stock before processing your order. Standard Shipping normally takes 5-14 business days. Express Shipping usually takes 1-8 business days to reach you. We use UPS, Canada Post, and USPS. More info on shipping options under Shipping.

  • How do I check the status of my order?

To check your order status, please click here to send an email to us with your name & order number. We will make every effort to get back to you by the end of the business day.

  • Why isn't there an invoice or packing list in my box?
    |
This is because we try to be as paper-free as possible (and when we do use paper, we use recycled or tree-free hemp paper). If you need an invoice for your records, you can print one at checkout or email us and we'll happy to send you a pdf version. For phone orders, you can request a printed or pdf invoice.

  • What is Economic shipping?

Economic Shipping is our least expensive shipping option; it starts at $5 and goes up to $18 maximum, depending on weight. We wait until all items are in stock to process your order. Orders are usually 1-4 weeks in transit, depending on your location. This shipping option is not applicable to addresses in Alaska and Hawaii or on heavy food orders. Please note that, in order to keep the substantial costs of shipping reasonable for everyone and to prevent abuse, we do subtract actual shipping before refunding for returnable merchandise in case of a return, so this option works best if you're ordering items that you know you'll keep. For more information, see Shipping.

  • Are items returnable or exchangeable?

Yes, most clothing and footwear items are returnable and exchangeable within 30 days of receipt. Some bed, bath, and intimates items, for hygiene and other reasons, are not. For example, sheets and blankets that have been taken out of their packaging and all pillows, mattresses, and comforters are not returnable. Sale, discounted, special, bundled, and soiled, washed, or worn products are not returnable. Read more. Important: please click here for address to send your package back to as not all of our warehouses can accept returns.

  • What is so great about hemp?

Here's all the hemp facts and info you need to get started!

  • What is sweatshop-free?

For us, sweatshop-free means fair labor conditions and respect for human rights. The facilities we use are either unionized or operate under fair labor or worker-owned co-op conditions. We also have sew-at-home arrangements with artisans of many years' experience.

Our products are made in USA, Canada, the EU, and Thailand. (It's true that having products made in these countries does not guarantee sweatshop-free conditions: even though human rights violations are illegal, sweatshops still exist, unfortunately.) We are a small manufacturer so are sweatshop-free almost by definition (sweatshops usually churn out big volumes for big manufacturers). More importantly, we are fully committed to making sustainable products that respect both human rights and the environment. Once in a while, a customer would ask us why our products aren't as "cheap" as some products made elsewhere: some reasons are high-quality organic materials and quality sewing cost more, and paying sewers a fair salary will result in a higher price than if sewers are paid a few cents an hour, as is the practice in many "sweatshop" factories.

We are involved in the production process from beginning to end to be sure of procuring the right fabric weave & weight and the right fit & finish for our unique products. First, we obtain organic raw materials of the highest quality possible (it's very rare that we use organic stock fabrics, preferring instead to custom-make fabrics for each job to truly realize our designer's vision). Then we contract top knitters and weavers to turn our organic fibers into the perfect fabric for the job. Once the fabric is made to our specifications, we queue up at sweatshop-free sewing facilities or contract sew-at-home artisans to work on the production. Lastly, our products are ecologically finished, then packaged, and sent to our warehouse for distribution. We also carry a small number of products made by respectable organic outfits that are as committed to sweatshop-free practices as we are.

  • Is hemp clothing soft?

Yes, our hemp clothing products are made from premium quality air-finished hemp fabrics that are soft and cozy. We've come a long way since the days of burlap-y hemp fabrics! Hemp linen has a similar look, texture, and feel to heritage flax linens.

  • What do hemp foods taste like?

Creamy, nutty, rich, smooth, and delicious: all in all, like a cross between cashew nuts and pine nuts with a little bit of almonds thrown in. Hemp foods are very high in essential fatty acids (highest in all plant kingdom, in fact) and chlorophyll (which accounts for the deep green color in hemp oil). Read all about hemp foods.

  • How does hemp compare to cotton?

Hemp is a lot more ecological than conventional cotton (even organic cotton, which despite its purity still requires massive amounts of water and land to grow). Hemp is a much stronger fiber than cotton (anywhere from 3-10 times the tensile strength of the cotton fiber, depending on how the fiber is processed into fabric and if the fabric is woven or knitted). Cotton, on the other hand, has more rubbing strength than hemp. We've designed our various sustainable products to take advantage of the inherent strengths of the organic cotton, hemp, and linen fibers. More on the wonders of hemp and its many uses.

  • Is it safe to order online?

Yes, 100% safe! We utilize state-of-the art security protocol to encrypt your personal information in transmission. Please note: you will only see the "locked key" symbol on your browser once you have entered the shopping cart. The product pages are not encrypted as they are for viewing only.

  • Having problems adding stuff to the shopping cart?

Check to make sure that the "Cookies" option in the Preferences menu of your browser is set to "On". This should fix the problem in most cases. Please click here to email us. Top of Page

Please note: For reasons of hygiene, unless defective, bed, bath, food, and underwear products are not returnable. If you're not sure or are very particular about color shades, we recommend buying these products at your local retailers or, in the case of sheets, purchasing a pillowcase to check out the texture and color of fabrics. Thank you for your understanding. Clothing & footwear items are returnable and exchangeable within 30 days of receipt. ** In consideration to chemically-sensitive customers, we cannot accept items that have been washed or scented (perfume, cigarette, etc..) for return or exchange. **

Prices on this website are subject to change without notice. Rawganique.com cannot be held responsible for typographical errors: we do our best to keep the pricing information as accurate and as up-to-date as we can, but errors may still occur despite our best intentions. We appreciate being notified about them and will correct any errors or omissions as soon as we can. Thank you for your support!

Shipping Options at Rawganique.com

  • Express Shipping (1–8 business days) With this trackable service, items in your order that are in stock will ship out the same day and reach you in 1-8 business days, depending on your location and time of year and barring exceptional circumstances (like inclement weather conditions). Some exceptions (such as custom-dyed items or bulky bedding items) apply. Backordered items will ship via ground service when they become available at no additional cost. It is important that we have your correct billing and shipping information as there may not be enough time for us to contact you before shipping cut-off time.

  • Standard Shipping (5-14 business days) With this shipping option, orders that reaches us before 10 AM PST ship same day. Delivery time is normally 5-14 business days anywhere in the US and Canada (except AK & HI, where this service is not recommended). We will send items ahead and ship any backordered items at no additional cost when they become available.

  • Economic Shipping (1-4 weeks) Most of our products qualify for this shipping option. Economic shipping starts at $5 and goes up to $18 (maximum), depending on weight. (All of our futons and other bedding items qualify for the subsidized $5 shipping fee and are exempt from the weight scale of the Economic Shipping option; restrictions on this offer are posted in the product descriptions on the individual product pages). Order processing time for this option is 2-5 business days (not including transit time) so it only works if you do not need your order in a hurry or by a specific date. Express and Standard shipping orders are processed first. This shipping option is not applicable to addresses in Alaska and Hawaii as transit time can be overly long. Also, due to rising energy and shipping costs, heavy food orders may not qualify for the Economic Shipping option. Thank you for your understanding. To keep the ever-increasing shipping costs reasonable for everyone, we do subtract actual standard shipping before refunding if you choose this shipping option and return most or all items in your order; we use the standard shipping rates for this purpose. If Standard or Express Shipping is chosen, your return will be offered the full refund of the product price, assuming the returns come back in original new condition. Also, with this option, we generally hold your order until we can ship everything together. This option may or may not be trackable. Top of Page.

Non-discrimination

Rawganique believes in equal opportunity for all regardless of race, religion, age, personal beliefs, sex, sexual orientation, and country of origin.

Note on our models: Some customers have asked us about our policy on finding models. It's easy: we live on a small island and we do all of our own photos. The models we use are friends and family members who like being photographed. Unlike big corporations with big advertising budgets who prefer to be politically correct and who have quotas in terms of racial representation (so that all races are represented), we use local people who reside in our community. In some ways, our small community of fewer than 500 people is on the homogenous side and the photos you see reflect that. We don't purposely, then, try to do global racial representation and search out black models, for example, unless they happen to live here (only two) and we happen to know them, which is the case with our black female model. For example, one of our co-founders is Asian-Canadian, and that's why you see Asian models who are part of his circle of family and friends. Our photos are works of love; they are meant to show the products that we offer to the global eco community while also allowing us to have fun working with our friends and family. We hope our customers enjoy viewing them, and we do our best to abide by what we believe in. For the most part, our models are as natural as can be; they don't wear make-up or perfume.

If we had a big advertising budget and lived in the city, we would of course make sure that the models we interview and hire represent as broad a spectrum of the human race as possible. But for now, we prefer and love homesteading in a small rural community, so the photos you see are of the people we know and the environs in which we live. We greatly appreciate our customers' thoughtful comments and messages over the years. They show love, respect, and concerns for all of life and the planet.

Packaging and Stationery

As an eco-focused hemp company, it goes without saying that Rawganique.com uses recycled and reclaimed packaging as much as possible to pack and ship to our customers. Your package may arrive in a box that has been used a few times, but be sure that your box is clean and still strong enough to get to you in good form. It's what's inside that counts! All the filling materials are from recycled paper, recycled air padding, and/or recycled & recyclable peanuts.

Also, when we print or write, it's always on hemp paper. We are generally loathe to have to use paper at all (for this we thank the internet and email and digital photography), but when it's necessary to use paper to disseminate information (our hemp info booklet which is packed with facts and tidbits on the cannabis sativa plant and its many uses) we always go with hemp paper.

The little notes we use to write personal messages to you when we ship your package are all made from tree-free hemp scrap paper (hemp/flax/cotton blend).

We use only digital photography and imaging software to create images for you to enjoy throughout our website to keep toxic chemicals used in traditional photography from our collective waterways and soil.

Note to customers suffering from multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS) and severe allergies: Please let us know in the "Comments/Suggestions" at checkout and we'll make sure that your products are wrapped in brown paper and tied with hemp strings so that they do not come in contact with cardboard boxes. We will also be happy to take other specific cautions per your request. Top of Page

Digital Life & Paper Invoices

We do as much as possible electronically and digitally. In our imperfect world, digital is the way to go to collect, produce, and disseminate information and to connect and share thoughts with like-minded souls. :)

This is why all of the images you see on our website and in our catalogues are created digitally (traditional photography uses highly toxic chemicals to manufacture and process film and prints) and why we use only tree-free hemp paper when we write or print.

Many customers have asked us why we don't include a packing list or invoice in the box. This is because we try not to use paper whenever possible. If you order online, you will have an option of printing an invoice out on your personal printer for your record. If you need an invoice, please print it out at this time.

If you order on the phone, your order information is stored in our database and you can email or call us if you need specific information at a later time. We always confirm your price and total with you on the phone so please have pen and paper ready when you call to jot down your order information.

We intend to do our part in putting a stop to the trafficking in trees. One of the saddest sights we've seen is a long truck with chopped-up old-growth trees speeding down the highway to the paper factory where myriad chemical processes are applied to convert these trunks -- many of them hundreds of years old -- into paper and other household products. Hemp, on the other hand, grows to maturity in less than 8 months and gives four times more pulp for paper per acre than trees do; for furniture, there's always bamboo and other hardwood substitutes. Hemp is also the ideal fiber for clothing, bed, bath, kitchen, and home products, not to mention a highly nutritious food in its own right (hemp seeds contain the highest percentage of essentially fatty acids in the entire plant kingdom). More info on hemp and its many uses. Top of Page

What is hemp and what's so special about it?

Why hemp? (excerpted from Hemp Horizons by John Roulac)

What is so special about hemp products that I should pay more for them than conventional cotton products (although stores like Rawganique.com is rapidly closing the gap on conventional cotton and hemp prices--in many cases our designer organic cotton and hemp clothing and footwear are even cheaper than what you'd find on Main Street, USA!)?

Hemp is special in so many ways. It's arguably the strongest and most versatile fiber we know for consumer goods and industrial uses. It has been used to make durable and stylish clothing, footwear, paper, and home accessories for thousands of years in China and many other countries; in the US, it had been in use and cultivation up until the 1940's, when it was banned due to its association with its distant cousin plant, marijuana. Now, thanks to visionaries like Jack Herer, hemp is back! If you haven't seen or touched hemp clothing lately, you'll be surprised how far the industry has come in terms of quality (our hemp clothing is really soft and cozy, unlike the burlap-y hemp of the early days), style, economy, variety, and craftsmanship.

The hemp plant also yields one of the most nutritious foods you can eat (industrial hemp grown for fiber and food contain virtually no THC, the psychoactive substance in marijuana--our hemp food products are made from hulled hemp seeds, and so contain no THC, which is found in infinitesimal amounts only in the hulls).

While hemp's many uses in the clothing and food industry are well-known, little is known of the fact that you can make plastic, cement, gasoline, and so much more out of hemp! There really is no more need to cut down trees for paper or make bags out of conventional plastic or fill your car up with petroleum-based gasoline!

The hemp plant itself is a marvel of nature. It grows easily in temperate climates (it's a "weed" after all), with roots that penetrate deep into the ground, bringing much-needed minerals and nutrients that other plants can use to the top layers of the soil. It dislikes chemicals and fertilizers and hence lends itself easily to organic farming, as opposed to conventional cotton, which requires massive uses of water, chemicals, pesticides, bleaches, and many other toxic substances for its cultivation and production.

The hemp fiber is anti-fungal and so is great especially for footwear; it also wicks away moisture and has a natural sheen that is water-resistant, making it the fiber of choice for natural outdoors people everywhere. The fiber itself is durable and will easily outlast cotton 6-to-1. It's also much thicker than cotton and hence contains a lot more air space than cotton, thereby facilitating free air circulation, making it warmer in winter and cooler in summer than cotton. You can also really abuse your hemp clothing and still get at least three to four times the mileage you can get out of your cotton clothing. Products made of hemp are naturally beautiful, humble, and mindful of this fragile planet of ours.

Now, on to the question of price. Hemp is more expensive than cotton up front, but if you add up long-term costs to our environment from cotton production and the massive use value of hemp products, you'll easily find that hemp is much lighter on your pocket and on the planet in the long run. Also, if hemp farming were legalized in the US, as it is in many of the countries in the western world such as Germany and Canada, then the prices will come tumbling down in a hurry. And you can do your part in making this happen by supporting this wonder plant anyway you can. Wear hemp, eat hemp, walk on hemp, write on hemp! For a better future for us and our planet, so that we and our children can actually have a future to look forward to! The more widespread and mainstream hemp becomes, the more reasonable the prices of hemp products and the more likelihood that its cultivation will be legalized in the US.
