The original hemp yoga karate pants are our most popular product ever. When we ran out of them, we went back to the files we'd kept over the years of customer comments, suggestions, and requests and worked through the most requested features with our designer to come up with even better Hemp Yoga Karate Pants. After months of work designing our customers' dream hemp and linen pants, we're pleased to announce the launch of the updated Hemp Yoga Karate Pants, which are made with European fibers, more hemp content, and more color choices. We've even added Organic Linen Yoga Karate Pants to the mix in light of a high demand for more certified organic linen products from our customers. The fabrics are made from your choice of certified organic cotton and hemp or certified organic cotton and linen as follows. All dyes used are fiber-reactive, biodegradable, and free from heavy metals. Both yoga karate pants are made in Europe from organic linen, hemp, and cotton.

1. Unisex European Hemp Yoga Karate Pants $89

Special edition Hemp Karate Pants (Yoga Pants) for the practice room as well as for casual and dressy everyday wear: The simple elegance and cozy comfort of these casual/dressy hemp yoga karate pants — which are sure to turn heads everywhere you go — belie the care that went into their rugged, double-stitched gusseted construction; pants feature six parallel bottom seams for an elegant, finished look (except for Extra-long Inseam option, which has a simple bottom seam that can easily be undone to let the pants down for hemming to length).

Extremely popular as yoga pants and as a casual drawstring with a twist, the Hemp Yoga | Karate Pants are also favored by many dancers for their graceful form and quiet elegance that help bring the underlying drama of artistic expression to the fore. They are of course perfect for meditation, gym sessions, and the various martial arts as well: karate, kung fu, judo, tai chi chuan, and jujitsu.

String is drawn outward from the sides until the waist is snug and looped through the belt loop in the front in an ingenious pulley system before tying; pants are completely free of elastic or Lycra/Spandex.

The Hemp Yoga Karate Pants are made from a brand-new, made-for-the-occasion fabric from European hemp (70%) and organic cotton (30%). This special fabric is lush, cozy, smooth, soft, & voluptuous as silk; it drapes perfectly, with just the right amount of structure and spring to it which holds up the pants' shape wash after wash, wear after wear.

Choice of Ecru Natural (a light cream color; completely unbleached & undyed), Slate Blue (a most attractive shade of blue with just a hint of grey), Black, Charcoal Grey, or Earth Brown (a centering & calming brown color which is always popular with our customers). 2. Unisex Organic Linen Yoga Karate Pants $89

We couldn't resist making our new yoga karate pants from hemp's well-known sister fiber flax linen. Flax linen, like hemp, is an easy to grow and durable ancient fiber that's experiencing a tremendous renaissance, thanks to its purity and environmental sustainability. The ancients often used the word "linen" interchangeably to refer to hemp linen and flax linen, so it's all the more fitting that we include both fibers in our new yoga karate pants collection.

The new Organic Linen Yoga Karate Pants are made from a tough but cozy fabric especially designed for us from organic flax linen (75%) and organic cotton (25%).

Our Organic Linen Yoga Karate Pants are offered in the same unisex sizes as the Organic Hemp Yoga Karate Pants (please refer to table above) in your choice of Oatmeal (natural color of unbleached, undyed organic linen and cotton yarn), Grapeberry Sunset Zen (kind of a muted eggplant/mauve color (dusky violet-purple grey), with a bit of oregon grape and black berry thrown in: full of a sense of adventure and very zen -- please scroll down to see swatch), or Black.

• use organic cotton, linen, and hemp yarns
• are sized similarly to our original hemp yoga karate pants (to make sizing easier for returning customers) with the addition of the Petite size for smaller folks

• accommodate longer inseams with the new Extra-long Inseam option (for taller folks who require up to 38" inseam)

Customers who require the Extra-long Inseam option for inseams up to 38": please select "Extra-long Inseam" from the drop-down menu below. This option costs $3.00 more. The Extra-long Inseam pants are hemmed at the regular length, with extra fabric tucked into the bottom hem. To extend the inseam, simply undo the hem seam, fold the bottom to the length you require, iron to make the fold crisp, and reseam.

Please note: The organic linen or hemp and organic cotton fabric, which is designed to be strong for intense martial arts use, does have a lot of spring at first. It will soften and relax quite a bit after some wear and a few washings. Wash the hemp or linen yoga karate pants in warm water with like color using only a mild, biodegradable detergent. Hang or lay flat to dry (many customers, for convenience, machine dry their pants on delicate/low and remove promptly just before dry -- they have reported that the pants are apparently fine with this too).

Tidbits re: flax linen from Hans Christian Andersen (trans. by R. P. Keigwin): The flax was in full bloom. It had the loveliest blue flowers, as soft as the wings on a moth, and even more delicate. The sun shone down on the flax and the rain-cloud watered it; and this was just as good for the flax as it is for little children to be washed and then have a kiss from mother. They are much nicer after that, aren't they? And so, too, was the flax. "They say that I hold myself remarkably well," said the flax, "and that I'm growing lovely and long -- they'll get a fine piece of linen from me. My word, how lucky I am! I must be the very luckiest of the lot. I'm so well off -- I shall go far. How the sun does cheer me up, and how I do enjoy the freshness of the rain! Yes, I'm wonderfully lucky. I'm the very luckiest of them all."

Sizing: As long as your waist size is at least 2 inches below the maximum waist size of the size in question (please see below), your Hemp Yoga Karate Pants will fit you perfectly, thanks to the proprietary non-elastic drawstring that evenly distributes the excess fabric in the back of the pants, keeping the front flat and a neat, draping appearance all around, so that the pants never look bulky or ill-fitted, no matter how much smaller your waist is than the "maximum waist size" of the size in question.

Gusseted crotch styling does not have a measurable inseam so we approximate it for you above (a pretty good estimate, from our experience). If you require longer pants, please select the "Unhemmed" option and have your hemp yoga karate pants hemmed at the nearest dry cleaner's.
