| Care: | All varieties of our hemp socks should be treated as delicate knits. They can be machine washed warm with like colors on delicate setting and hung or laid flat to dry. We do not recommend drying our hemp socks in the drying machine as dry heat is hard on hemp fibers and may cause excessive linting. |
Our hemp stockings are made the old way from an old-fashioned hemp jersey knit that is reminiscent of the very best hand-knit socks and stockings of yesteryear. We're bringing these old-fashioned socks back because we truly believe that certain things are best done the time-honored way, which also happens to be purer, more durable, and more sustainable than any conventional socks you can find on the market today.
Our hemp stockings are the only elastic-free hemp socks on the market. They are specifically designed for the purist who will settle for nothing less than true purity and environmental sustainability.
These beautiful hemp stockings are so soft and comfy, you'll want to wear them all day and well into the night, as they double up as oh-so-cozy hemp foot warmers as well (the hemp stockings are especially good for this, of course). They are as sustainable as socks can be so your stockinged feet can keep warm and relax in good eco-conscience.

In order to produce our finest knits, we blend hemp with its sister eco-fiber, flax. This new blend has a lightweight, linen-like feel to it that combines the breathability, durability, and suppleness of hemp and flax into a unique product that is 100% environmentally friendly.
Only eco-friendly mordants are used to fix the colors. Naturally dyed colors are more sensitive to wash and wear and some may fade in time (only the colors, not the fiber!). Machine wash cold for best results. All of our featured fibers are processed without the use of any chemicals whatsoever.
Note on Hemp | Flax Socks style: Medium is available in Jersey Low Crew only and Large comes in Ribbed Crew only (see photo).
A note on hemp/flax sox: Since they don't contain any elastic except for the few strands at the cuffs, these socks are not to be compared with "conventional" socks which are laden with elastic to make them form-fitting. The hemp/flax socks really are great but may take a little getting used to (be sure to get the right size). You'll appreciate the sturdy and solid texture and durability of these socks, thanks to the hemp and flax—the two strongest fibers we know. You won't find a more eco-friendly pair of socks anywhere. However, if you're looking for an eco-friendly version of more conventional socks, may we suggest the Hemp Wool Socks, Hemp Anklets, Hemp-Cotton Socks on this page and/or any of our Organic Cotton Socks, which are fluffier and more snug than hemp socks.
