Certified Organic Cotton CoverallsUnisex. Classic carpenter bib coverall styling with lots of tool pockets. ![]()
Our Limited Edition Organic Cotton Overalls are great for outdoor work, gardening, painting, farming, carpentry, construction, as well as everyday wearing with a high "cool" and sustainability factor. Organic farmers and gardeners everywhere can now work in organic overalls. Yes!
Over the years, we have had lots of requests from folks who garden, farm, or work in construction for tough, industrial-strength organic cotton or hemp overalls that are easy on the environment. So we were very excited to find a Belgian weaver who could make a suitably tough and pure duck fabric that we could use for our certified organic cotton overalls. Ducking is probably the toughest fabric you can make out of cotton -- it's so tightly woven, it's practically waterproof too. We'd compiled a list of the most requested features in an overall over the years and used them as a guide in the designing process of our organic overalls. The resulting RG346 Organic Cotton Overalls are good-looking yet very functional for a variety of purposes. The RG346 Organic Cotton Coveralls feature an adjustable shoulder strap and brass buttons, rivets, & hooks, as well as a carpenter bib (a zippered compartment, plus smaller tool pockets) and a hammer loop and more carpenter pockets on the right side. The knees are doubled up for durability and ready for knee pads.
The RG346 Organic Cotton Coveralls are made in Europe from cotton that is certified organic by IMO of Switzerland, one of the most prestigious organic certifiers in the world. Absolutely no heavy metals were used in the dyeing and production of our organic overalls. And definitely no sweat shop, child, or underwaged labor. Ecru Chocolate color. Unisex sizes XS-3XL. The inseam will come long to accommodate inseams up to 37" and can be folded up or hemmed to length as desired (but please wash the organic overalls a couple of times for shrinkage before making alterations!). Detailed sizing measurements are coming soon -- if you wish to pre-order and are not sure about your size, simply place an order online and give us your measurements (height, waist, chest, inseam in inches) in the "Comments/Suggestions" box at checkout and we'll compare them to our sizing chart to choose the right size for you.
Eco tidbits: Simplicity and Fairness: Simple living is less violent and less exploitative. When we live in complexity, our needs are so great in terms of energy and material goods that we live at the expense of others. As we simplify our homes, our clothes, and our eating habits, not only is less work needed to supply us but also less effort to maintain our way of life, as well. As the people of the world who are now exploited begin to get a fair return for their labor, prices will rise. We must expect this and be willing to pay the costs, otherwise we are hypocrites of the first water, wanting the world's people to be well off yet still insisting that our bananas be cheap. When the people picking the bananas in Honduras, tapping the rubber trees in Malaysia, mining tin in Bolivia, and making shoes in Brazil get the same return for their labor that we do, our bananas and boots and tires and tin (and fair trade clothing--ed.) will cost more. -- from A Handmade Life by WM.S.
