Happy New Year! May we have peace, sustainability, and goodwill for and towards all. Let's have all these good things sooner than later...

Welcome to my web logs (blogs or occasional journal) on the day to day business of living in the raw on a quaint little island in the Strait of Georgia -- far away from everything (but not far enough to not have regular internet access). In these pages, I aim to share all my thoughts on the raw life, what I've recently read and thought about, and my effort to live as naturally and as close to nature as possible in this modern day of ours. You'll be reading all about my experiences and struggles in real time.

I converted to a raw food lifestyle 14 years ago (when raw foodists were seen as "weird" and all that) and have struggled off and on with the idea of 100% raw in everything since. Recently, I've made discoveries, thanks to some new books which I'll review here and my own cumulative experiences over the years, that have allowed me to stick to a simple raw living in accordance with natural hygiene and the temperate life. I don't know how or why, but all the cravings have disappeared. And I can truly say this is a wonderful thing as even in the best of times before this happened, I was still tempted by cooked foods -- I opted for staying away from all temptations, but they were still there nonetheless.

Do you know how it is -- when you've been doing something for so long and you think -- oh, I'm doing OK, but you're not really -- and then, all of a sudden everything clicks and here you are off to the next level. Well, that has happened with me many times in my quest to be as natural as can be but recently it has all come together for me. Just like my singing -- something I've been doing for so many years and then all of a sudden everything makes sense -- I know *exactly* what I have to do to sing -- all the lessons and things I'd read about and observed in others and myself that I liked -- all came together and now I enjoy singing so much -- it gives me such pleasure and joy. Long live breakthroughs (what they say is true -- stick with something with passion and commitment long enough and you'll get there -- you are what you commit to, think about constantly, dream of, and wish for).

My reasons for keeping an occasional journal online are many but the most important is that I would have been much happier much earlier had there been a little real life experience journals of a fellow raw foodist to read -- entries that have not been colored by fear of public opinion (so they can be really honest) nor vested interests (I'm not trying to sell you anything). I just want to share with you my enthusiasm, commitment, frustration (at times), joy, and everything in between in my search for a completely natural life. My blogs will be completely uncensored and unedited and will have nothing to do with Rawganique.com -- my opinions and thoughts and ideas, as it were, are entirely my own. Please click here to email me. I can't promise that I'll always have the time to get back to you (I'm trying to keep life manageable in accordance with my new year resolution to get plenty of rest, sun, sleep, and exercise) but you can be sure that I'll be reading your emails to me. And since I may want to publish excerpts from your emails here, please let me know in your email if you would like me to fictionalize your name or use the real one. OK, here we go!
