Fluffy and luxurious, our Euro-Luxury Pure Virgin Wool Pillows provide a soft and medium firm support in three lofts to suit all sleepers. Completely pure and humanely harvested (full disclosure at bottom of page), the soft wool used in our organic pillows are processed in such a gentle way as to preserve the yarn's integrity and be mindful of the environment (no chemicals ever came near our 100% pure wool pillows).

Our pure wool pillows are a perfect choice for customers who require pure, chemical-free pillows and who are averse to cruelty to animal associated with down pillows and to the toxic chemicals routinely used to manufacture conventional cotton, polyester, or other formaldehyde-laden synthetic pillows, many of which actually outgas toxic chemicals for years. Chemically sensitive customers will also appreciate the lengths to which we go to preserve the purity of our natural bedroom products and to achieve the quality for that we are known. As we see it, the outside world is full enough of chemicals, the last thing we need is to contend with more of it in the sanctity of our own bedroom, which to many of us is the true last safe haven from the hecticness of modern living.

Pure wool is legendary for its ability to perfectly regulate temperature, so that you'll never feel too hot or cold, making it suitable for year-round use just about anywhere. (Wool has traditionally been the material of choice of insulation for this reason.) The carded wool in our pure wool pillows retains its loft better than organic cotton, which will pack down over time, providing a very firm support for those who prefer it. Our unique garneting technique maximizes the longevity of your new wool pillow and ensures that the fill remain even and smooth even after years of nightly use.

Please note: Please be aware that our pure wool pillows are not returnable due to reasons of hygiene. Care instructions:

• Keep your organic wool pillow clean by always using a pillowcase.
• Air your organic wool pillow seasonally.
• Eliminate odors (only when necessary) by sprinkling with baking soda or expose your organic wool pillow briefly to the sun.
• Do not wash.
• To increase the loft of your wool pillow, put your pillow in the dryer with two new tennis balls. Set dryer on Air or the coolest setting possible.
• We recommend our Organic Cotton Pillow Barrier Cloth Cover to protect your pillow. Pillowcase goes on top of barrier cover for added protection and color interest to your bed (our organic hemp pillowcases, for example, are available in many complementary colors).

The best way to care for your organic wool pillows is to expose them to direct sunlight and air once a month. This allows any moisture contained within the fibers to evaporate and will fresh the bedding, bringing the "outdoor clean" scent inside your bedroom.

Al alternative to sun and fresh air is to place pillows in the dryer on cold and air fluff for 10-20 minutes (check every 5 minutes to make sure that the product isn't tangled.) A tennis ball or clean tennis shoes in the dryer will help revitalize the natural resilience of the fibers.

Stains may be spot cleaned, using a solution of 1:3 parts distilled white vinegar and water. Spray the vinegar/water solution on the stain and expose to direct sunlight. Allow to dry. It may require a few applications until the stain fades away and/or the odor dissipates. You may also use a non-toxic spot cleaner as directed by the manufacturer. Be sure to let the product dry completely.

Information regarding the all-natural raw materials used in our euro-luxury organic bedding collection:

The organic cotton we use as cover for our wool pillows is cultivated and hand picked in the traditional co-operative manner that has been followed for centuries in the Cañete and Chincha valleys high in the Peruvian Andes. It is grown organically without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or defoliants to fertilize the crop, control plant growth or fight pests. No synthetic chemicals are used to strip the leaves in preparation for the harvest or during the manufacturing process. Hand picking ensures that it is the cleanest, purest most resilient cotton fiber available. Europe's oldest and most prestigious certification agency KRAV of Sweden has certified our organic cotton. Their stamp of approval is not only a guarantee of organic standards, but also that social rights are observed in the production of our cotton.

All the organic cotton used in our batting, filling and fabrics is this clean, pure, organic product. It is woven to very high standards into the finest, softest fabrics, in Germany and Switzerland.

The wool in our wool pillows comes exclusively from Texel, an island off the coast of Holland. It has a population of 13,300 people and over 100,000 sheep. The people of Texel have been raising sheep for over 600 years, and have developed a unique breed of sheep that is both hardy and produces wool of unrivalled quality. Texel Sheep have adapted to a very windy and harsh environment to produce a unique, long wool fiber with a high crinkle factor and high natural lanolin content.

Products made from Texel wool are softer, thicker, warmer, and longer lasting. It is especially well suited to sleep products because of its superior durability, insulation, and moisture regulation. Texel wool is harvested from a sustainable source without detriment or harm to the animal. Each sheep is shorn every spring producing about 11lbs if high quality wool. The sheep are raised organically on a land that has never been used for agriculture and thus, has been protected from chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides. Using craftsmanship based on experience and environmental sensibility, the raw fleece is processed without the use of any dyes or bleaches. Bleached wool contains toxic compounds including highly toxic dioxin, something we all can do without.

The wool is cleaned using a unique chemical free process that produces exceptionally clean wool, while retaining high natural lanolin content. All wool used in Obasan's products must abide by strict requirements to be considered for use. In this way we are able to ensure the purity of our finished product.

Our wool must be free of any sort of plastic, baling twine, and mothballs. Fleece must be well skirted; no mat of hay, timothy heads, burrs, belly hair, manure, etc. Processing is restricted, usual processes performed on wool are not allowed, such as; (1) Carbonizing, a process which uses carbonic acid to dissolve chaff, (2) Shrink proofing, (3) Chemical scale removal, and (4) Moth proofing. Any process that uses chemicals or produces toxins in the wool is strictly forbidden. Finished batting can only be washed with vegetable based soaps instead of chemical pesticides. All fiber lubrication, static control, or wetting agents are vegetable based and petroleum free. Finally the wool must be stored in an unscented atmosphere.
